Dr. James Cottom Teaches Advanced Total Ankle Course

Dr James Cottom of Florida Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Center was honored to serve as a faculty member for the advanced Hintermann Series Total Ankle Course in Park City, Utah in late July 2023.  World renowned surgeons Professor Beat Hintermann MD and Roxa Ruiz MD from Switzerland lead the meeting.   The implant was designed by Dr. HIntermann and has been implanted globally over 30,0000 times with excellent long-term data.


 It was a great day of learning and teaching the attending surgeons advanced principles of total ankle replacement.  In addition, Dr. Cottom was able to present his outcomes with the Hintermann Series Total Ankle replacement over the last 5 years with a 97.5%  retention rate.  If you have questions about ankle arthritis please feel free to contact Dr. Cottom’s office for more information.  941.924.8777 or visit or for more information.

Cottom DPM, FACFAS is the owner and Director of the Florida Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Surgical Fellowship in Sarasota, FL. Dr. Cottom has practiced in Sarasota since 2007 and completed his fellowship training at the prestigious Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Center in Columbus, OH under the guidance 3 fellowship trained orthopedic foot & ankle surgeons. Dr. Cottom is a devoted patient advocate and is very involved in the most up to date technology in foot & ankle care and has published over 60 papers and book chapters in peer reviewed publications. Dr. Cottom also routinely lectures on cutting edge procedures both in the United States and internationally. Florida Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Center has graduated 13 fellows to date who are leaders in the profession and located all over the United States.
